EU battery maker wins Green Leadership: World Sustainability Award 2023

A major global and European lead battery manufacturer, Clarios, has clinched the prestigious “Circular Economy Award” at the 2023 World Sustainability Awards. This recognition celebrates Clarios’ outstanding contributions to redefining sustainability in the automotive industry.

Out of 15 shortlisted companies, Clarios was the sole automotive representative in the final round, emphasizing its role in fostering a circular economy. The award ceremony in Amsterdam saw Christian Rosenkranz, Clarios’ Vice President of Sustainability, accepting the accolade.

Clarios collects approximately 8,000 used batteries every hour across its global network. This initiative ensures responsible design and economically viable recovery of vehicle batteries. The company’s circular approach results in a 90% reduction in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions compared to batteries made from virgin materials.
